Before you start: 5 quick tips
These tips help your posts get seen by more people (not just your existing followers), because social media algorithms favour posts that people engage with.
- Lead with value, not the sell. Start with something useful, relatable, or a bit of personality. Mention the voucher near the end, as the "solution."
- Ask a question or invite a reply. Comments are one of the strongest signals to the algorithm.
- Use a real photo, not a generic graphic or AI image. A photo of your venue, your team, or your product performs far better than stock images or plain text graphics.
- Keep it short. 2–4 short sentences beat a long paragraph. Break lines up rather than writing one dense block.
- Post consistently, not just at Christmas. One awareness post a month keeps vouchers on people's radar all year, not just in December.

Photo/video idea: A short clip of someone receiving or opening a voucher, or a simple photo of your venue with a "Gift Vouchers Available" sign.
Why this works: It's informative rather than pushy, and the closing question invites comments which helps the post reach more people.
Template 2: Promo Code / Limited-Time Offer
Goal: Create a bit of urgency to convert interest into a sale, without sounding like a hard sales pitch.
A little treat for our followers 👀
For the next [X days], use code [PROMOCODE] for [X% off / £X off] any gift voucher.
It's the perfect excuse to sort a gift early or treat yourself while you're at it (we won't tell).
🗓️ Ends [date] 🔗 [link]
Save this post so you don't forget!
Photo/video idea: A close-up, well-lit photo of your product/venue with the promo code overlaid simply avoid busy, clip-art-style graphics.
Why this works: "Save this post" is one of the strongest engagement actions on Instagram/Facebook, and a clear deadline encourages action without feeling aggressive.
Template 3: Christmas Gift Push
Goal: Position your gift voucher as a thoughtful, easy Christmas present especially for the "I don't know what to get them" crowd.
Still got someone tricky to buy for this Christmas? 🎄

Photo/video idea: A cosy, seasonal shot think fairy lights, wrapping paper, or a voucher tied with ribbon. If you can, film someone unwrapping one for a short reel/story.
Why this works: It taps into a genuine seasonal problem (gift stress) rather than just saying "buy now," and the question at the end invites comments while still being warm and personal.
Maximising Visibility: General Tips
Timing & consistency
Post when your customers are actually online for most venues that's typically early morning, lunchtime, and early evening.
Format
Video (especially short-form/Reels) gets pushed further than static photos on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok right now. Even a simple 10-second clip such as pouring a coffee, wrapping a voucher, a quick "behind the scenes" tends to outperform a still photo.
Vertical (9:16) format works best across Reels, Stories, and TikTok avoid square or horizontal video where possible.
Captions & hashtags
Front-load your caption. Put the interesting bit in the first line as many platforms cut captions off after 1–2 lines with a "more" button.
Use 3–5 relevant hashtags rather than 20. A mix of local (#[YourTown]Eats), niche (#GiftVoucher, #SmallBusinessGift), and broad (#SupportLocal) tends to work better than generic, overused tags.
Tag your location on every post as this helps you show up in local search and "near me" results, which matters a lot for venue-based businesses.
Engagement
Reply to every comment and DM, ideally within an hour or two. Fast responses signal to the algorithm that your content sparks real conversation, and it also just builds trust with customers.
Engage with other local accounts (comment on posts from nearby businesses, customers, local community pages) as this raises your visibility in that local network, not just your own followers.
Encourage user-generated content. Ask happy customers to tag you or share their own photos, reposting these (with permission) gives you free, authentic content and reaches their followers too.
Platform-specific quick wins
Instagram/Facebook: Use all the "extra" features on offer — polls, quizzes, question stickers in Stories, and pinning your best post to the top of your profile grid.
TikTok: Trends and sounds matter more than production quality using a currently trending audio can help a simple video reach a much wider audience.
Google Business Profile: Often overlooked, but posting updates there (including about gift vouchers) helps you show up when people search "[your town] gift vouchers" on Google Maps/Search.
Keep track of what's working
Check your platform's built-in analytics every few weeks to look at which posts got the most saves, shares, and comments (not just likes), and do more of that style.
Don't be afraid to repeat a format that worked well before with fresh content — the algorithm doesn't "get bored" the way people assume.
